- জাগো নারী উন্নয়ন সংস্থার উদ্যোগে “Enhancing Resilience in Coastal Communities: Co-analysis Workshop with Community Connectors and Co-researchers” শীর্ষক একদিনব্যাপী কর্মশালা তারিখ-০৭/১০/২০২৫ ইং কক্সবাজারের হোটেল ইউনি রিসোর্টে সফলভাবে সম্পন্ন হয়েছে। ইউনিভার্সিটি অব ফ্রেসার ভ্যালি (কানাডা) এবং গ্লোবাল উইমেন্স ইনস্টিটিউট, জর্জ ওয়াশিংটন ইউনিভার্সিটি (যুক্তরাষ্ট্র)-এর অর্থায়ন ও সহযোগিতায় বাস্তবায়িত Research in Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation: Building Resilience of Coastal Inhabitants in Vulnerable Regions of Bangladesh through a Participatory, Gender-transformative Approach প্রকল্পের আওতায় এই কর্মশালাটি আয়োজন করা হয়। কর্মশালায় শীলখালী টেকনাফ রিসার্চ টিমের কো–কানেক্টর এবং কো–রিসার্চগণ অংশগ্রহণ করেন। সেশনটি সঞ্চালনা করেন জাগো নারী উন্নয়ন সংস্থার হেড অব কনসালট্যান্ট জনাব আশিষ বণিক। কর্মশালায় উপস্থিত ছিলেন ড. গীতাঞ্জলি গিল, অ্যাসোসিয়েট প্রফেসর ও প্রোগ্রাম চেয়ার, গ্লোবাল ডেভেলপমেন্ট স্টাডিজ, ইউনিভার্সিটি অব ফ্রেসার ভ্যালি; ড. মওরিন মারফি, রিসার্চ সায়েন্টিস্ট, দ্য গ্লোবাল উইমেন্স ইনস্টিটিউট, জর্জ ওয়াশিংটন ইউনিভার্সিটি; ড. দ্বিজেন মল্লিক, জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন অভিযোজন বিশেষজ্ঞ, বাংলাদেশ সেন্টার ফর অ্যাডভান্সড স্টাডিজ (বিকাস), আভা ওয়েগনার (ইন্টার্ন, জাগো নারী উন্নয়ন সংস্থা এবং শিক্ষার্থী, ইউনিভার্সিটি অব ফ্রেসার ভ্যালি); এবং জাগো নারী উন্নয়ন সংস্থার অপারেশন ম্যানেজার জনাব ফোরকানউদ্দিন আহমেদ, সিনিয়র প্রোগ্রাম অফিসার জনাব কামরুল নাজিম, সেইফগার্ডিং ফোকাল সানজিদা জাহান আঁখি, কমিউনিকেশন এসিস্ট্যান্ট হাছান মাহমুদ ইমরোজ ও রিসার্চ ফিল্ড ফ্যাসিলিটেটর জনাব শাহাব উদ্দিন। কর্মশালার মূল উদ্দেশ্য ছিল জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের প্রভাব মোকাবিলায় স্থানীয় পর্যায়ে অভিযোজন ও প্রশমনমূলক উদ্যোগকে উৎসাহিত করা এবং অংশগ্রহণমূলক বিশ্লেষণ ও যৌথ চিন্তাভাবনার মাধ্যমে বাস্তবসম্মত কৌশল নির্ধারণ করা। দিনব্যাপী অধিবেশনসমূহে অংশগ্রহণকারীরা দলভিত্তিক আলোচনা, গল্প বিশ্লেষণ এবং কমিউনিটি ম্যাপিং অনুশীলনে সক্রিয়ভাবে অংশগ্রহণ করেন। আলোচনার মাধ্যমে তাঁরা স্থানীয় পর্যায়ের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সমস্যা, বিদ্যমান চ্যালেঞ্জ এবং সম্ভাব্য কার্যকর সমাধান চিহ্নিত করেন, যা ভবিষ্যতে টেকসই ও সহনশীল উপকূলীয় কমিউনিটি গঠনে দিকনির্দেশনা প্রদান করবে। সংক্ষিপ্ত বক্তব্যে প্রফেসর ড. গীতাঞ্জলি গিল এবং প্রফেসর ড. মওরিন মারফি কর্মশালায় অংশগ্রহণ করতে পেরে আনন্দ প্রকাশ করেন এবং জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন মোকাবিলায় ভবিষ্যতেও যৌথভাবে কাজ চালিয়ে যাওয়ার আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করেন। ড. মল্লিক সংক্ষিপ্ত আকারে এই গবেষণা প্রকল্পের গুরুত্ব এবং তাতপর্য নিয়ে আলাপ করেন। সমাপনী বক্তব্যে জাগো নারী উন্নয়ন সংস্থার এক্সিকিউটিভ ডিরেক্টর মিসেস শিউলি শর্মা অংশগ্রহণকারী ও সহযোগী দলকে আন্তরিক ধন্যবাদ জানান তাঁদের মূল্যবান মতামত, অংশগ্রহণ ও সহযোগিতার জন্য। তিনি আরও অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক, অভিযোজিত ও টেকসই সমাজ গঠনের লক্ষ্যে পারস্পরিক সহযোগিতা ও সম্মিলিত প্রচেষ্টা অব্যাহত রাখার প্রত্যয় ব্যক্ত করেন। A one-day workshop titled “Enhancing Resilience in Coastal Communities: Co-analysis Workshop with Community Connectors and Co-researchers” was successfully held on 7 October 2025 at Hotel Uni Resort, Cox’s Bazar, organized by Jago Nari Unnayan Sangstha. The workshop was organized under the project “Research in Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation: Building Resilience of Coastal Inhabitants in Vulnerable Regions of Bangladesh through a Participatory, Gender-transformative Approach”, implemented with the funding and collaboration of the University of the Fraser Valley (Canada) and the Global Women’s Institute, George Washington University (USA). Participants included co-connectors and co-researchers from the Shilkhali Teknaf research team. The session was facilitated by Mr. Ashish Banik, Head of Consultants, Jago Nari Unnayan Sangstha. Distinguished attendees included Dr. Geetanjali Gill, Associate Professor and Program Chair, Global Development Studies, University of the Fraser Valley; Dr. Maureen Murphy, Research Scientist, Global Women’s Institute, George Washington University; Dr. Dwijen Mallick, Climate Change Adaptation Expert, Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS); Ava Wagner, Intern, Jago Nari Unnayan Sangstha and student, University of the Fraser Valley; and representatives from Jago Nari Unnayan Sangstha, including Mr. Forkan Uddin Ahmed, Operations Manager; Mr. Kamrul Nazim, Senior Program Officer; Ms. Sanjida Jahan Akhi, Safeguarding Focal; Mr. Hasan Mahmud Imruz, Communication Assistant; and Mr. Shahab Uddin, Research Field Facilitator. The primary objective of the workshop was to encourage locally-driven adaptation and mitigation initiatives to address the impacts of climate change and to identify practical strategies through participatory analysis and collective reflection. Throughout the day-long sessions, participants actively engaged in group discussions, story analysis, and community mapping exercises. These participatory activities helped identify critical local issues, existing challenges, and potential solutions that will guide future efforts toward building sustainable and resilient coastal communities. In their remarks, Dr. Geetanjali Gill and Dr. Maureen Murphy expressed their delight in participating in the workshop and shared optimism for continued collaboration to address climate change challenges. Dr. Dwijen Mallick briefly discussed the importance and significance of the research project. In her closing remarks, Mrs. Sheuly Sharma, Executive Director of Jago Nari Unnayan Sangstha, extended sincere appreciation to all participants and partner organizations for their valuable insights, active engagement, and collaboration.
